Three through to Lantra finals
|
Oatridge will be represented by one current student and two ex-students in the finals of the prestigious Lantra Scotland Landbased and Aquaculture Learner of the Year Awards, which will take place in Crieff on Thursday, March 3.
The present student is 20 year old Susan Torrance from Raploch in Stirling, who is working towards an Advanced Certificate in Equine Studies and is a keen supporter of the Riding for the Disabled Association. Rebecca McWilliams is also 20 and from Irvine and she emerged as “Best Student” when she completed the Entry to Farriery course. Scott Simpson is 22 and lives on the islands of Bute, but travels every working day to Bishopton on the mainland, where he recently completed his Modern Apprenticeship in Agricultural Engineering with Hamilton Brothers.
You can read the full story of their route to the finals in the February issue of Oatridge Online. Meanwhile, fingers are crossed around the College for their success at the glittering awards ceremony. Watch out for the results in the coming days.
