Golfers pitching in for charity

Members of Binny Golf Club, which plays over the College-owned nine-hole course, have raised £1,000 for Meningitis Research over the past year, through a series of charity competitions, collection boxes and raffles.

Members congregated in the club house to see a giant cheque presented to Mary Mitchell, the Scottish Manager of the charity (4th from the left). Passing on the donation are (l-r) Alex Speirs, the club captain, his predecessor Margaret Manson and member Fiona Mitchell, who won the right to nominate Meningitis Research, as part of the team which took the annual charity mixed fours competition.

Over the last four years the club has raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Eve Appeal for ovarian cancer and Friends of Chernobyl’s Children.

During the current year the members will concentrate of raising funds for the forces charity, “Help for Heroes”.
